I am back, again, and I still have yet to write about my camping trip...and tonight isn't that night either.
Maybe next time, home slice.
Tonight I feel like being silly.
As if I'm not just plain silly all the time.
Aren't you guys just so lucky that I chose to tell you just about everything.
[Disclaimer: JB you probably shouldn't read on. In fact I highly suggest you don't read this. Plus I would prefer you not to just because it's more a "This One's for the Girls but technically I can't stop you.]
Anyway. For some reason I had far much more time than usual then I usually feel I have and I was on facebook or the internet in general all day today. I was feeling good about some events that transpired yesterday so today has been pretty good as well. An amazing really early morning conversation with Sarah G., I discovered a great band called Mayday Parade, read half of Max Lucado's Six Hours One Friday debocled pie and Billy Graham with Alex Loy, discussed some college cadoodles and Seminary with a friend, ate KFC for the first time in like five years, watched a movie with some of the fam, and accomplished a lot more on the guitar than I thought that I would. All in all a pretty good day.
But I was waiting for something else.
I don't know what but I was waiting for it.
I think I'm still waiting for this revelation instead of going to bed.
Which brings me to the silliness that this post is all about
Mindless internet surfing.
Web Magazines.
Mindless reading.
Relationship section comes up
[this is the part where I could get depressed but I beat temptation]
Funny article.
Wanna know what it was.
Romantic Nicknames.
Or pet names as I like to call them.
Congratulations this post just got silly.
This was a huge list and some of them were just to much. Some I am still not sure why anyone in their right mind would want to be refered to as such (even if you are in love), and some were just food names.
But I decided to compile of the list of the ones I enjoy and the reasoning behind them and what I think that situations call for when these names should be employed.
Numero 14: Snickerdoodle
-It's a cookie and let me tell you I usually can't stand the food name thing it irks me when I hear people use "muffin" or "cookie" but "Snickerdoodle". It isn't high on my list of things I would ever be want to called but if it's Christmastime and I'm filling cookie tins for soldiers than "Snickerdoodle" is all right by me.
Numero 13: Doodle Bug
-Kind of a good lead in from Snickerdoodle. I think it's cute. Once again not high on my list but it's a zany kind of nickname. If I'm cleaning house and I've got a side ponytail and my converse on dancing to Glee or rockin' out to All Time Low. I think being "Doodle Bug" would fit the moment.
Numero 12: Angel Girl
-It doesn't really have a ring to it like the others. I think most of the others flow and Angel Girl doesn't really fall off the tongue. But it is endearing and I wouldn't mind hearing it if I do something crazy like fall up the stairs (which I am apt to do) if nothing else out of my routine humiliation I could use an endearment out of it even if it is said with a chuckle about how often I may or may not klutz out.
Numero 11: Dear(est)
-I never totally cared for this just because anyone can be a dear. I call lots of people dear whether boy or girl, interested or not, we don't even have to be good friends. It's just really versatile and not very exclusive but once again it is a silly moment endearment. Like doing the dishes and having your partner joke about missing a spot and countering with "Yes, dear" Just one of those that kind of fit any moment.
Numero 10: Lady Bug
-Along the lines of Doodle Bug. If my name was Katie I would change it to Katie Lady but alas my name is not Katie so Lady Bug it is. Once again, zany endearment, for when you think no one is at home so you play dress-up on your own and pretend you a a rock star diva. More for when I have kids since I plan on staying home with them until they are at least 6 years old. Just a fun day with the little girl or boy.
Numero 9: Sweet Pea
-I suppose it is something you hear more with kids. But "Good Night, Sweet Pea" You do not have to be under the age of puberty to absolutely melt at that endearment.
Numero 8: Snuggle Bear
-Well there is one person roaming the world out there who knows about my adoration of affection (and you guys through blogging). This is definately a "save for occassion" because it was one of those really silly names that are for private use only. This is a watching movies together endearment or had a bad day but now it's okay kind of nickname.
Numero 7: Dimples
-What? I have one and I love it. It isn't frilly or fancy and I think it demonstrates the friendship part of a realtionship. Silliness continues.
Numero 6: Baby Girl
-Once again, more the little girl aspect, but I think if I was sad and I just needed to be held while I had a good cry; well come on gruff whispering of "Baby Girl" with that oh-so-glorious affection? Who would not be falling in love all over again? Especially when he has just a little bit of the scraggly five o'clock shadow that could potentially lead to forehead whisker burn (Be warned I draw from very limited experience)
Numero 5: Freckles
-You know you are best friends in love with this name. I love my freckles they are tied as my favorite feature. It is silliness at it's best and I think that lovers and partners and spouses should be best friends. So why not let him call me Freckles.
Numero 4: Bright Eyes/Blue Eyes
-My eyes are the tie fo my favorite feature. But they are only blue some of the time which is why the nickname is a dual one. "Morning, Blue eyes" need I say more.
Numero 3: Chickadee
-....I have nothing. It just sounds cute. If I'm having a songwriting day I declare myself "Chickadee" on that day. With a pencil stuffed in my ponytail, behind my ear, and gnawing on the eraser of another one, humming aimlessly to make a song, yes "Chickadee" it is.
Numero 2: Sunshine
-"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine" I'm not asking for a serenade but it's nice to be the light in someone's world. This is up there with "Morning, Blue Eyes". "Morning, Sunshine" what better way is there to start a day than waking up to that endearment?
Numero 1: Care Bear
-You heard me. Somehow I will have to get Mr. Right to latch onto this nickname despite the fact that I have neither a C nor a K in my name anywhere. What better endearment for a girl who loves her teddy bears than "Care Bear".
Silliness ensues.
All right, all right, you have suffered enough.
This is what happens when I surf the net.
Though I know Mr. Right is not reading this blog when I meet him I need you guys to put in a few good words for me and maybe accidentally slip this blog post to him.
Haha.
Lots of Love,
Patchwork Prayers
<3 This made me think of a line/ song in Kiss Me Kate
